Don't Feel Bad: Putting Yourself and
Your Team First
Don't feel bad if your and your team's welfare comes first.
As pawnbrokers, it can be easy to feel guilty about putting ourselves and our teams first. We often think that we should be focused on the customers and their needs above all else. However, this is not the healthiest mindset to have. In order for pawnbrokers to truly succeed, they need to take care of themselves and their teams.
Let's talk about why it is so important for pawnbrokers to focus on themselves and how they can do so in a healthy way.
Self-Care
One of the most important things for pawnbrokers to remember is that they cannot pour from an empty cup. In order to be the best leader possible, they need to take care of themselves first. This means getting enough sleep, eating a healthy diet, and exercising regularly.
When pawnbrokers take care of themselves, they are able to be more focused and present with their team.
It is also important for pawnbrokers to find activities that help them relax and de-stress. This could be anything from reading, hiking, biking, or spending time with friends and family. Whatever it is that helps pawnbrokers relax, it is important to make time for it in their schedule.
Work-Life Balance
It is also crucial for you and your team to create a healthy work-life balance. When your team has a healthy work-life balance, they are able to be more productive and creative at work, and they will be less likely to experience burnout.
Pawnbrokers should also make sure to take care of themselves outside of work. If you or your team is struggling to find a work-life balance, pawnbrokers should not feel bad.
There are a few things you can do to help them find balance:
- Encourage them to take breaks when they need it
- Set clear boundaries between work and personal time
- Schedule time for fun and relaxation during their week
- Help them find ways to manage stress outside of work
- Make sure to schedule time for fun and relaxation.
Taking care of yourself will help you be a better leader! And that's what the last point emphasizes.
Lead by Example
Finally, you need to lead by example. This means setting the tone for your team and fostering a healthy work-life balance. If you are constantly working long hours and never taking a break, your team will likely do the same. However, if you take the time to step away from work and recharge, your team will see that it is okay to do the same.
Don't feel bad if your and your team's safety comes first.
During the outbreak, many shops were forced to close their doors. When they were permitted to reopen, some people decided to keep them shut out of concern for endangering everyone.
When things like that happen, DO NOT FEEL BAD!
The most important thing is that you and your team are safe. So, if that means closing up shop for a few days or weeks, then so be it. The safety of you and your staff is more important than anything else.
When you're not putting your safety as well as your team's safety first, that's when you should start to feel bad. So if you're doing everything you can to keep everyone safe, then don't feel guilty or ashamed. You're doing the right thing!
Do what you can to keep everyone safe, even if it means making some sacrifices.
In conclusion, don't feel bad about putting yourself and your team first. It's not selfish, it's smart. And, at the end of the day, it's what will help you succeed in business and in life.
