Yigal Adato: 00:03 Hey everyone, my name is Yigal Adato and this is the Pawn Leaders Podcast, a podcast that help you make more money, stress less and live an epic life all while working at the pawnshop.

Yigal Adato: 00:23 Hey pawn family and welcome back to another Five Minute Friday before I get to the episode on this week, we got some sad news that Dave Newman, a pawnbroker from California, lost his battle with cancer. I got to sit next to Dave Newman multiple times during board meetings when I was in the board of the California Pawnbrokers Association and he was just a great guy. He gave so much, he was funny, but most of all he cared about pawnbrokers and the industry and he worked really, really hard. So this is just a in memory episode for him. He was actually the inspiration behind episode 11 and also the inspiration for the Five Minute Friday. So rest in peace, brother. And what I want to talk to you guys about today is a quote I remember from my wrestling coach. And so, I used to wrestle back in high school and it was very, very tough for me to wrestle, but I just, I felt like it’s what I wanted to do.

Yigal Adato: 01:17 It’s a sport that fit who I was. I couldn’t play basketball, I couldn’t play football, wasn’t a good swimmer. So I said, I’m going to get into wrestling and my coach would always say, every single practice, you’re going to hate me when you practice, but love me when you win. You’re going to hate me when you practice, but you’re going to love me when you win. And he would always say this as he was making us run 4 miles or do the hundred push-up or put somebody on our back while we’re stretching out so that we get more flexible. In back then I hated him for this. I really did. I didn’t understand the [Incomprehensible] of how this was going to help me out. All I would do is I was tired. I was sore, I was more sweaty and I won some matches, but it just never registered until recently.

Yigal Adato: 02:07 You see a lot of times in the Pawn Leaders Mastermind group especially, I make them do things that they make them a little bit uncomfortable or things that they’re not used to, but that’s the same concept. You might not like it, but when you win, when you make more money, when you build a better culture, when you bring in more cash flow, that’s when you could be happier. So what does that mean? What do you, how do I translate that you’re going to hate me when you practice but love me when you win. You see the question is what are you doing every single day to become a better you and to build a better business. Are you reading books on marketing at leadership? Are you listening to other podcasts other than this one to be able to build your business? Are you putting things into play in your business that you’ve always wanted but really never got around to doing, right? You just not practicing at all? You’re just getting to work every single day doing the same thing, expecting the same results? I think that’s what’s called insanity, right? Doing the same thing day after day, expecting a different result,

Yigal Adato: 03:21 but you have to understand that in order to get better, to grow your store, to have a better life or an epic life. As I see in the intro, do you have to constantly be learning and constantly be practicing different methods? What about waking up earlier, going to the gym if you don’t go to the gym, you’re practicing a skill that you’ve never been able to master. You know, maybe it’s building a website because you don’t have the money to pay somebody to do it. Whatever it is. If you don’t practice, you’re not going to win. When you look at world champions, when you look at people who win medals, they practice, practice, practice,

Yigal Adato: 04:06 and so this weekend I want you to have my coaches voice in your head as he repeats to you, as he repeats to me often you’re going to hate me when you practice, but love me when you win, those who win in the pawn industry are learning, are practicing, are sharpening their skills day in and day out in order to build a better business, a better loan balance, and a better life. So with that, I’ll leave you guys to have an incredible weekend.
