Yigal Adato: 00:03 Hey everyone, my name is Yigal Adato and this is the Pawn Leaders Podcast, a podcast to help you make more money, stress less, and live an epic life, all while working at the pawn shop.

Yigal Adato: 00:23 Hey Pawn family. Welcome back to another episode of five minute Friday and as I was trying to figure out what I wanted to speak about today, I decided just to be very real and very open and very honest. This week’s been a very tough week for me. It’s been a crappy week, if you can call it that. And why has it been a crappy week? Because my wife, I had to take her to the doctor a couple of times. She’s pregnant and we just had a couple of scares, but thank God everything’s okay. My father who has Parkinson’s and dementia called me and came over one night while I was taking care of my daughter and my wife, and it was just an extreme, hectic scenario. I just wasn’t feeling it this week. And that’s the truth. And I want to let you guys know that it’s okay sometimes it’s okay to not have a good day.

Yigal Adato: 01:14 Have a good week, but to not get stuck in the fact that this is how it’s always going to be. But to know that tomorrow’s another day, next weeks in a day, and you need to kind of get out of the element so that you can focus on fixing what needs to be fixed and realizing that, you know, these are problems and issues that everybody has in life and that you’re not alone. Yesterday, I got home after work and I was in a bad mood and I just decided to watch TV, and I watch TV for three hours. I watched my show, I finished my show and I just need to decompress. You know, it’s hard going through, you know, where we’re going through with my wife and then taking care of my daughter and with my father and whatever other issues that you may have in your life, but understand this, you know, business owners, business managers and business leaders, this is life.

Yigal Adato: 02:17 It’s going to happen. It’s going to get in the way of, you know, your focus. It’s going to get in the way of coming up with ideas of how to make money, how to run your store, your customer service. But the whole point is to not let it, to not let it, you know, put you down so much that you just stop and you lose. You know, the vision of what you want and the reason why you opened your pawnshop and the reason why you’re working so hard for your family. You know, I talk about leadership when I talk about how to have structure and morning routines and exercising at five o’clock in the morning. Sometimes I don’t feel like doing that either. Sometimes I wake up in a bad mood, I wake up not as motivated as I wish I was, and I wake up not as excited as I want to be because of something that happened the night before or the day before, but that’s okay.

Yigal Adato: 03:21 Because when I wake up, I realize that today’s a new day. I either journal, meditate, or pray on you know what, what’s going on. And you can do either whatever you’re more inclined to do and to realize that we’re human and to realize that, you know, sometimes we forget to tell people the truth. You know, people ask us as pawnbrokers, how’s everything going? And her answer right away is, oh, it’s going good. You know, my, my pawn loans are good, my sales are going well, everything’s doing all right. But deep down, the truth is that you’re not okay. Something’s wrong. You had a crappy day in a fight with your spouse. You don’t have enough money in the store. You found out, like somebody, I spoke to this week that a manager was stealing. These things happen and it’s okay to share these issues and problems because once you share them, you put them out in the open, then they’re not just, you know, in your head, giving you stress and anxiety. When you share them with somebody, you can talk about what’s the best way to diffuse the situation or just getting it off your chest. This is enough.

Yigal Adato: 04:43 So remember this, if you had a crappy week, like I did know that it’s okay. It’s the weekend, enjoy it and work it out for Monday. If you had a crappy day, if those happen like they do to everyone, because we’re human, know, that you’re not alone, but in order to not be alone in that, you need to share. That’s one of the beauties of the Pawn Leaders Mastermind. It’s one of the reasons I love the fact that we’ve put that together for pawn brokers is to share the good and the bad, is to share the wins and the losses for the week, is to share the ups and the downs. Because when you do that, that’s when you’re real. That’s when you’re honest. And that’s when you can get more focused and know exactly what you need to do to make tomorrow a better day. So with that, I’ll leave you guys. I hope you enjoy this deep and real episode and I wish you guys an incredible weekend. Keep your head up. Know that I got your back. And I’ll see you in the next episode. Take care.

On this five minute Friday episode, I discuss the issues around keeping it real and sharing the ups and the downs.
