4 Steps to Increase Your Sales

Pawnshops have been around for hundreds of years. They provide a valuable service to those in need, and many pawnshop owners are happy to do so.

However, the pawn industry is changing rapidly with more and more people opting to buy used items online or through other channels. If you're not paying attention, your business could be at risk of closing down!

But if you're willing to do the work, it's not very hard at all.

And even if you have no intention of doing anything on this list and just want a few pointers for when someone in your pawnshop asks what they can do better--here are four things that will help:

Target: Who are your potential customers?

Know who your potential customers are and target them.

Pawnshops are a great place for people to find items they need, but you can't just open your doors and expect customers.  You have got to do some research on who is in the area that might be interested or needs what you offer at your store before opening up shop!

Targeting potential buyers will help increase sales because it's more likely someone from this target group would come into the pawnshop than if there was no targeting done beforehand (more traffic).

Research who will buy from you so that you know where the traffic of consumers will be coming from.

Know what their needs are and meet them.

For example, if your customers largely come from low-income neighborhoods or have credit problems--offer money loans that they can't get elsewhere. This is an untapped market with a lot of potential for pawn shops which often cater to higher income brackets.

It's also important to know how you will target these people: There's traditional marketing like email campaigns and Facebook ads as well as more modern options such as keyword research and influencer outreach (more on this later). For now, just focus on knowing who they are so we can put together the perfect campaign for them!

Attract: How can I increase traffic to my business?

Create reasons for people to come into your store.

If you don't have a reason for people to come into your store, then they won't. One way to get customers in the door is by offering discounts and deals on certain days of the week or month. Moreover, it's easy to attract new customers with creative campaigns and effective strategies.

Do creative promotions. One of the most effective ways for your pawn business, especially if you're new or are just getting started with promoting yourself online and offline--is by offering discounts on certain days like Mondays when people have money left over from their paycheck that they need to spend before it's gone!

Increase foot traffic.

The first step in increasing business is making sure there's always a steady stream of people coming into your pawn shop.

The best way to do this is with a diverse marketing strategy and an eye on the long game:

  • give out freebies - like T-shirts or stickers,

  • host events or contests for customers (these don't have to be related to pawnshops),

  • offer deals that are hard to find elsewhere, such as better loan rates than other lenders might offer--you're competing primarily in terms of price.

Supply: What can I offer customers that they are looking for, but may not know yet?

Pick out and keep items that will appeal to customers.

You want your pawnshop to sell so you need to get some things that people will buy. It doesn't matter if other stores have what they're looking for, or if the customer has a good story about how their old TV was antique worth millions of dollars--if it would fit in your store and make you money take it as long as they can give up the cash first!

Since many people are on the hunt for good deals, pawn shops have to be able to meet those expectations by offering lower prices than retail stores or online sellers. When customers come in and see that some items cost more at their local store, it can make them hesitant about buying anything there because of the thought that what they want might not be any cheaper either.

For this reason, if an item needs to be discounted from its original price (e.g., TV), then the discount should always apply across all brands and models unless otherwise specified so as not to create confusion among shoppers who may think one brand or model is actually priced better than another when both were marked down equally (i.e., TV= $400-$350=$50).

You can also increase foot traffic by talking with local businesses about promotions or events where customers may need our services (everyone knows how much business gets done during tax season!). Offer jewelry cleaning as well so people don't go anywhere else!

If someone comes into a pawn shop, they are looking for something and usually have an idea in mind about what it might look like or how much it may cost - but this can't always be guaranteed.

So when people come in not knowing exactly what they want, there needs to be some sort of direction given so that buyers can find their target product quickly and efficiently. This means having items displayed clearly with prices visible as well as maintaining organized shelves with similar products grouped together by category (e.g., jewelry).

It also helps if store owners offer suggestions based on what they notice a shopper is interested in.

Create: What can I do to encourage repeat customers?

Get people to spend more money.

Once you've increased foot traffic it's time to start thinking about getting them to buy things! Here are some examples:

  • provide excellent customer service; helpful staff will always get repeat business no matter what product they're selling.

  • make sure items are clearly labeled and priced.

  • be willing to negotiate: a pawn shop can't exist without negotiating, so it's important for staff to have experience with this skill.

Encourage repeat customers by doing something nice that the customer won't forget--something like giving them their favorite candy bar for free or offering an extra incentive on every tenth purchase (like $25 off). It will seem small to you but they'll appreciate your generosity!

Plan and create an EPIC customer experience.

The pawnshop industry is changing and if customers are going elsewhere because they don't feel like their needs were met when visiting one of our stores then there will be no more business left at all!

That means creating an environment where people want to come back again--and not just once but over time as well so make sure everything from signage on down has been thought out with this in mind or else risk losing them forever...or worse yet never getting another chance altogether due how quickly things change these days thanks to technology (think Amazon). It might sound daunting - especially since many shops have already gone under before even trying anything.

Get people to spend more money while they're there by telling them upfront everything we offer--and show them examples from other stores too. Give discounts every month so people know why coming back is worth it.

Encourage repeat customers by offering to hold items for them when they come back with the promise that they'll buy something--and then let them know how much time is left before we re-evaluate their item so there's no guilt trip if you have to send it home again.

Offer a loyalty program where people get points or a free gift card every few times they shop and keep coming back since this will encourage not only more visits from your regulars but also bring new shoppers in to see what else you offer.

Conclusion:

By targeting your potential customers, attracting them to come in and browse around your store, providing a wide variety of products they need and would be interested in buying from you (such as gold jewelry), and making sure they have an enjoyable experience - can all increase sales revenue for the pawnshop.

But remember that these approaches are not necessarily “one size fits all” at pawns. Think about the uniqueness of your shop and how you can apply these strategies to specifically fit your way of conducting business.

You can offer a cheaper price for your inventory, or use the most famous social media platforms, but this all boils down to the sum of how you make your customers feel before entering your shop, upon entering it, while doing the transaction, and after they have done business with you that will matter the most. Good customer service is not just about selling the right items but it's about the impression you leave your customers that will determine how valuable your business is to your avatar.
