Take Ownership
As a pawnshop owner, it is your responsibility to take ownership and be accountable for the actions of everyone who works at your shop. This includes making sure that all employees are held accountable for their actions.
Accountability is key to ensuring that your business grows and thrives. If you can create a culture of accountability in your shop, you will be well on your way to success!
I want to share a phone call I had with another pawnbroker. The way things went is that I had a strategy call, and it was difficult because I was talking to an older gentleman about how his manager screwed up the store and his partner messed up the store, etc. He just kept going on for 15, 20 minutes, blaming everyone else for what was happening in his shop.
His pawn balance was down.
His sales were down.
His clients were down, but he kept on blaming everybody else.
And I stopped him and said, "Sir, I CAN'T continue this phone call unless YOU take ownership, and you understand that this is your fault."
At first, he was taken back, like, "Well, what do you mean it was my fault?"
I said, "That's right. I can't continue this conversation until you realize that, as the pawn shop owner, it's your responsibility to hold people accountable. It's your responsibility to know what's happening in your store."
If the ship goes down, it's the captain's fault.
The same is true for businesses.
If something goes wrong, it is the owner's responsibility to make things right. This is why accountability is so important for pawnshop owners. You are ultimately responsible for everything that happens in your shop.
While it may seem like a lot of pressure, taking responsibility for your business can be empowering. It allows you to take charge and ensure that things are done right. When you take ownership of your business, you are more likely to see growth and success.
The moment you take ownership...
...you take control.
You have to understand that as the owner, you can't just delegate and forget.
You need to be involved in every aspect of the business. This way, you can make sure that everyone is held accountable for their actions.
So take ownership of your pawnshop and make it the best it can be!
It's the first step to ensuring a bright future for your business. Your customers, employees, and community will thank you for it.
